New member here logging in from Ridgecrest

Post by jeeprod »

Hello, all. Jeeprod here, from Ridgecrest, Ca. I have been 4 wheeling all over the Panamint range for 30 years, and enjoy reading all the news from those who share my joy in our great outdoors!

Hey! Rod! Long time no hear! How's things down at Trona?? Watched THE EVENT last night and the jet liner crashes at the Trona Pinnacles, though the shows states it was in Yuma, AZ ... By the way, the last time I saw you was at my place in Big Pine, but now I'm up in north-central Nevada, Ana and I having moved up here in 2008.

Hello, Dave, yes---long time no see! But first, I am "new" again at computers, been away for 6 years, and I this is my first time posting in a public space. I hope I am doing it right!
The plane used at the Pinnacles was real, they cut it into 4 parts to transport it to the sight. That scene was filmed only a month ago. The plane was still being parted out and transported at the Pinnacle turn off 10 days ago!. I see a lot of fascinating topics here, glad I found this site!

Hello, Wheezer. Yes, I got into Geocaching in a big way a few years ago, but gave it all up when my computer accidently became thrown thru a window and driven over by my jeep after accidently being beaten to a pulp with a sledge hammer and set afire.
But I'm ok now.
Alas, I have been told by some friends that another nice pasttime has become ruined by some unpleasant persons who have planted unpleasant things in geocaches. I will pass for now, and just enjoy the Panamint Mountains. I hope to meet some old friends out there.

Spent many a pleasant hour in the Panamint canyons with jeeprod and his '97 Wrangler. You still got it, Rod? I remember when you first got it, right off the truck. 4-cylinder, 5-speed, soft top, bone stock with street tires. Noisy, rough but a lot of fun. Hard top, lift kit, ARB locker and Warn later, well, I've got some impressive video of Rod's antics nearly flipping it over backward in Goler before they made it a freeway. And I went on a couple of geocache expeditions with Rod.

I still got my Tacoma, Rod, I took you in it when I first bought it in June, '02. It's been on many a wild ride and I got the dents and rumpled skids to prove it. :D
