OK, I'm here too...
I'm from Westend, that flat spot in the ground south of Trona near where the old Westend Chemical plant used to be. Went thru the Trona Joint Unified School District et al. Many visits to Panamint City as a kid (when we could drive up in the family station wagon) when Mary Thompson lived there. The place is magic for me. I'm in favor of keeping the road closed to preserve what is left from the onslaught of today's petrol-powered pioneers.

Welcome, Westendboy!
Glad to see some folks who have first hand experience of the area, and who grew up there.
Your point of preserving Panamint City is well taken, though you will likely get some disagreement from folks (including myself) as to the best way to preserve what is still up there. But that is for another time and topic.
Again, welcome and look forward to your sharing stories of the area!
