I've been reading this forum for a while, getting beta for my trips.
My dad took me on a trip to Death Valley about 8 years ago. We flew into Las Vegas from Philadelphia rented a Jeep Grand Cherokee and stayed at PSR for 4 nights. That trip was my first time in the Southwest and changed my life. We took the road over hunter mountain driving through some snow to get to the racetrack, which was some of the most fun I've ever had.
6 years ago I got married and we packed up our things and moved to Las Vegas. We spent our first Christmas in Death Valley, my wife's first visit. I've been back a ton and explored a lot of the paved park.
Last month we rented a Jeep from Farabee's and let's just say we got our money's worth. Warm Springs Canyon road was awesome, too bad we didn't have time to make it all the way to Gohler wash, but we got distracted by all the mines, camps, springs, and donkeys along the way.
Today I joined the Jeep club, and bought a 05 Rocky Mountain Wrangler. It's stock for now, and will be my daily driver, but I'm sure a small lift and some tires are in it's near future.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi and thanks for the stories and info. They've helped plan an adventure or two and I'm sure will lead to more fun.
See you out there!

Welcome!
I don't know if this is the group you joined, but ...
http://nevadabackroaders.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
... is a Las Vegas based 4x4 group, they also have a forum. They seem to be soft-core off road enthusiasts, not hard core rock crawlers and encourage stock 4x4s. They have regular runs out of Vegas, and also do Death Valley on a fairly regular basis. I am a member of their forum, but not of the club itself, as I'm located in far north-central Nevada.
