Howdy from a former Panamint Valley visitor

Howdy,
Back in the late 60's/early 70's, my family camped in the Panamint Valley several times a year, usually at Ballarat.
I had a great time. I've been back several times since and plan to visit there more now that I'm into dual sport
motorcycle riding (when it's cooler).
We used to go up to Panamint City almost every trip. Somewhere, my dad has pictures of our chassis mount camper
up there. One of the miners backed a bulldozer up, spent the night, and bladed the road on the way down. We were
there just after the blading and the road was great.
I backpacked through there in the late 70's and met a few folks living there. Had me in for a hot drink. They'd fixed
up one of the cabins. They mined gemstones and made jewelry.
I got to camp at Barker Ranch my last trip a few years ago. I heard it burned down
I'm looking forward to more trips this fall/winter/spring to explore. I just happened onto this site and it looks like a
good source of info to plan those future trips.
