Hi from SteveS

Post by SteveS »

Hi guys, I hope everyone is well. I just dropped in to catch up, but I haven't been here since April. Doesn't look like I'll be able to read all the posting for the last 6 months, so it may take a few days.

An FYI about me, I mothballed the Toyota last Oct, and haven't been on a dirt road since. Don't worry we're OK, we've been rubberizing the pavement seeing a bunch of the little a-long-the-road sites I've never had the time to stop at during the back-country exploring trips.

Talk to ya later

Hi How's life been treating ya? I see a bud of yours joined over at 4xtrips.

Not sure on the "new rig" thing. I've done all I can to my Taco, but would like to start a new project truck. Of course we (the wife and I) are really enjoying all the paved back roads, but the wife did mention the other day, "I miss not camping". So I may stick with the taco for a while.

Yeap, still alive and well :D and enjoying life, but I'll have to lurk around here and see what you and jeep have been up too. Hopefully life is still good with you.

He's probably spending all that time and neglecting his Taco reading all those magazines he got from me some years ago ...

Hi Steve! Glad to see ya!

Your right Dave, I enjoy the heck out of those mags. I found so many cool things, and they pulled back a few lost memories I had from long ago. BTW, I think of ya everytime I see/read them. :)

Hi Cecile, I hope all is well with you guys. I really need to catch up with you, I haven't hardly been going to jack's site, and I'm way behind on you web site, I may never catch up. :( I posted a reply on here yesterday, I was talking about a trip a few days after 9-11 and I was thinking about being on the trail with ya, found memories. I enjoyed all trips with ya, but that trip was a good time during a sad event, as I'm sure you recall.

I miss you guys! Say hi to Anita for me and give me an e-mail shout! Lots of catching up to do...I don't do any of the message boards any more, except to keep an eye on what's going on over here, and on rare occassion chime in. We haven't done commercial trips for about 3 years, but concentrate solely on researching and writing. We literally call Bodie and Cerro Gordo our ghosttowns away from home now, actually working and living in both. I am very active on Facebook, if you guys have an account there....

That 9/11 trip was incredible, wasn't it? Was that the last time we saw you????

Yeah, Steve, it's a good thing you got all those magazines from me when you did. Can't recall ... Nevada? Or Collectible Auto? I think Nevada.

Yeah, in March of this year, you might have heard, a warming fire got out of control above Big Pine and came roaring down upon the western side of town, destroying my place as well as approximately 18 other homes.

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6852&hilit=big+pine" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All those magazines would have gone up in smoke if I still lived there. Then again, since most had five minutes or less to escape, so could have I ...

Though my wife and I sold the place in 2008 to come up to Winnemucca, we still had title to it since we financed part of the purchase price from the buyers. Oh well, a chapter has come to an end. And I got paid off far quicker by the insurance company than I would have by the buyer.

Hi everyone. I hope all is well. I see it’s been 51 weeks since I was here last, that is way too long. :(

I just stopped by to say Hi, and say I have not had any dirt under my tires in a few years now, but have been doing some great trips along the ‘paved-way’ of America. In fact we (my wife and I) have been making it to some places that have been on out ‘list’ way too long.

It is good to see a lot of familiar names around here.

I just wanted to say Hi and post something so people around here know I’m still alive.

As Dave says “happy trails to you”

Hi Steve. Glad to see you're still around. I'm still here. Still in the Winnemucca area. My Tacoma isn't off road much any more also. Most off road action it gets is during chukar hunting season. Getting too old and bummed up to do much more. I guess you'll be reading this post in another year or two ...

Ha Ha I am trying to stop by here more often, but I get distracted much to easy. :D So at least this time you didn't have to wait long for me to read your post. I'm surprised your not getting dirt under your tires, since it near by in your parts. Bummed to hear your slowing down, hope you still have good health. Speaking of health how is your wife doing? Well I hope.

Well take care and I stop by here in a few days.

Well, the window of opportunity to get dirt under the tires is always open, but at my age and health level, I just get up and close it. And my wife's health is stable but slowly declining. Thank you for your concern.
